“The first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them…” Acts 20:7
The early Christians lived in a world that was hostile to their beliefs. They knew that their security was in their relationships with other believers. Just as Paul uses a soldier’s life as a picture of the Christian life, so the early believers understood that an army of one is not nearly as safe or as effective as an army of many.
At LifeSpring, we believe that not much has changed in that regard! Even though Nero and the Roman guard may not be trying to arrest us, we still live in a world and a culture that is constantly wearing away at our beliefs and eroding our faith. We need the love and support of each other as much today as the Christians of two thousand years ago.
We believe the church should be more than a once-a-week meeting. We believe the church should be a place of friendship and encouragement, a real community of people who are committed to loving God and loving each other.
“… love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. ‘The second is this: ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
